Dr Alison Davis

Dr Alison Davis has a PHD from Auckland University and a 1st class Masters degree in Educational Leadership and Administration.

Her specialist areas are literacy, assessment and schooling improvement. Alison has been on the writing team for Effective Literacy Practice years 1-4 and years 5-8, the oral language handbooks and the revised literacy progressions. Alison is the author of a number of books widely used in NZ schools including Teaching Reading Comprehension(2007), Building Comprehension Strategies(2011), Strategies for Comprehension:Informational Text modules1,2,3,4,5(2012-2013) and Effective Writing Instruction(2013). She is also the Director of Vision Education, a professional development company that works in NZ, Australia and the USA.

Angela Ryan

Angela Ryan

Angela Ryan, Director Connectionz + (Masters, Education Leadership) was the Director of the Mana Education Centre from 1992 - 2013. Prior to this position she taught for 20 years in primary schools, teaching at all levels and working in Leadership positions. Angela worked for 14 years as an Adviser with School Support Services, Wellington College of Education and then Victoria University, working in the areas of Leadership, Management and PRT support. She also tutored in the Massey Teacher Aide programme.  Angela feels it is important for teachers to get opportunities to hear from experts and to mix with teachers from other schools / centres.

2014 provided new opportunities and Angela successfully coordinated the Cancer Society Relay for Life in Porirua as well as working as a Trainer for those working on the General Government Elections. Alongside these contracts she was building a new business and doing some relief teaching.

Her new business Connectionz+ is about giving leaders, teachers and support staff professional learning opportunities and connecting community and education.

Warwick Pudney

Warwick Pudney

Warwick Pudney has a Masters degree in Social Ecology and is a trained teacher and counsellor. For the last 10 years he has travelled NZ working with educators, caregivers, social services and community professionals.  He is a senior lecturer in Violence and Trauma Studies at Auckland University of Technology. a free-lance educator and trainer and writes practical self-help books.  His work has an emphasis on children’s anger and behaviour, boys in the education system, parenting, violence prevention, emotional literacy and child-adult relationships, fathering, conflict resolution, professional supervision and mentoring, problem-solving in organisations and groups. His recognition and awards include: 1992 Winston Churchill Fellow, 2000 U.N.E.S.C.O. Peace-builders Award. 2004 Queen’s Service Medal.

Helen Walters

Helen Walters is an independent Mathematics consultant. She has strong leadership development processes and provides teachers with opportunities to be future-focused, shifting the locus of control to the students enabling them to make decisions, problem solve, communicate and collaborate. Helen has had more than 29 years of facilitation involving national  and international teacher professional development, consulting assignments, pre-teacher training and post service professional learning and development. She was responsible for leading and managing the strategic direction and developments of the Numeracy projects for Auckland & Northland and facilitated within these. She has been a member of the National Education Monitoring Advisory panel and is a trustee of the Family Maths Trust.
